Access Employee Competencies
Employee assessment is a very important concept. It is to pinpoint the skills, knowledge and behavior of each employee in relation to the competencies to excel in a specific field. To become valuable to a company, employees should show their competencies to the employers. For evaluation of employees, it is necessary to consider their competencies or all the skills and experiences of the employees collectively or individually. All traits needed to become a valuable employee are the competencies of an employee. Here is useful information regarding the assessment of employee competencies.
- To access individual competencies of all employees, you should make spreadsheets of employees and have regular record of their performances. Write down all necessary skills and abilities that will be counted as competencies and title the spread sheet with job name. Competencies will include technical knowledge, management skills, learning attitude, behavior and personal skills to perform the job.
- You can also make a collective spreadsheet of all employees using several columns and rows.
- Evaluate competencies of each employee using a scale from one to five for all competencies. Show one for acceptable, two for below average and so on. Number five will show that the employee is exemplary.
- Rank the employees according to their past information and their present performances.
- Prepare specific notes on the bottom of the spreadsheet and record work habits and achievements of each employee. Also include awards or special recognitions earned by the employee.
- At the end of the spreadsheet, make a column for total scores of each employee. Have an idea that what lowest score would be acceptable and what measures to take for the employees who have shown their performances far below the acceptable lowest scores.
- Arrange special meetings with the employees to discuss with them about their performances and warn the employees having their performance scores below the lowest acceptable scores and tell the competent employees to improve their work till the final evaluation to win the awards.
- Terminate the employees by viewing their previous and current evaluation scores.
