Nursing is a very noble but responsible profession. This profession is much suitable for the females with less education. A female can find her future in this healthcare profession with full satisfaction. With some training or course, a nurse must have some special personal and professional skills that include:

Self motivation

Team work ability

Work under pressure

Love for humanity

Basic medical knowledge

Able to follow instructions

Cooperative

Planning & organizing skills

Candidates going to apply for the job of a nurse must have the skills mentioned above as well as a professional looking resume. It may be not comfortable for less educated women to design professional resume by themselves therefore all such women are provided with special guidelines in this regard to make it for them to write their resumes by themselves:

Write the resume in best format that is chronological, functional or combination of both.

Select best paper and printer for the resume writing.

Start the resume from personal information.

After this section, make a separate section for objective statement. This is the only section which will grab the reader’s attention to read the resume further. Employers spend few of seconds to read a resume and if they see something convincing in the objective statement then read the resume further otherwise the resume get place not more than is a file or a dustbin.

After this section next sections will include; professional qualification, employment history, professional skills, education, certifications & trainings and references.

Some more tips need to be followed while writing a resume:

Maintain relevancy in your resume. For this purpose make a draft list of all information to be included in the resume and scan the drafted information to include only relevant information.

Accuracy is the other most important characteristic of a job winning resume. A resume must be correct in all respects. When employers come to see any spelling, grammatical or logical mistakes in a resume they at once stick to the next resume to get more competent employee.

Don’t be extra personal in writing your resume and avoid attaching picture with the resume.

Proof read the resume more than twice to locate and remove all errors and mistakes to ensure your desired job waiting for you.

Here are some useful tips and suggestions that will give you a quick start to make an industry approved and best formatted resume.

Cover Letter

Cover letter is the general letter of solicitation that gives brief about what your documentation is indented for. Some employers consider a cover letter as obsolete trend now but many employers may view the resume as unsolicited without cover letter. You should make cover letter but make it sure to keep it simple and short but concise and meaningful.

Education and Qualification

Briefly mention your qualifications for instance Masters in Statistics or English, Bachelors in Computer Science, Intermediate in Computer Science etc. Use chronological order and place the last qualification on the top. Don’t exceed beyond the last three qualifications.

Professional Experience

State your experience in a separate section. You can add if you have gone through any internship and worked voluntarily. If you want to change your career then make a resume with experience section containing information about your accomplishments of previous jobs that compliment the requirements of opportunity in sight.

Projects

Mention the projects that you taken in course of your degree for instance if you conducted market research as a project in your degree and made a report, list and title the brief description about the execution of project. It will provide the employer to better understand that where you will be fit in the organization.

Courses and Training

Mention courses or training if any. By highlighting major areas of your proficiency you can end up by influencing the employer to make decision in your favor.

Relevant Skills

Make a list of your skills such as interpersonal communication skills, language proficiency, computer skills and others that you like to communicate to your potential employer.

Awards and Achievements

List out all your awards and achievements in this section received by you during your academic or professional career. Providing such information will surely help you to succeed for interview call.

Interest and Hobbies

Usually this section is ignored by the candidates. Information about interest and hobbies show the kind of person you are.

Try to make your resume more effective but not in terms of design and layout but its content should be convincing to influence the employer to arrange an interview with you. Follow the above mentioned tips to format your resume and wait for interview call with confidence.

Resume is the only way with which employers know you and your skills. You need to give much importance to your resume volume as employers will give maximum 20 seconds to your resume. Thus you have to make your impression great and do it fast. There are different ways to make your resume that will highlight your skills and experiences. Different resume formats can be used in this regard including chronological, functional and combination. You need to know some dos and don’ts of your resume to make your resume more dynamic and powerful to stand you out in the crowd of candidates.

The Do’s:

Place your strongest information at the top after personal introduction.

Include your impressive and impactful achievements and qualifications at the top where the reader will focus at first.

Begin with a 4-5 line summary on who you are. You don’t need to tell your name if you have used formal resume format.

Use bullets instead of paragraphs to highlight your achievements and skills.

It is not necessary to write objective statement as employers usually don’t want to know what the candidate wants but they focus on what the candidate can offer to the company.

Keep your font size and style readable. Mostly accepted font style is “Times New Romans” is font size of 12.

Be relevant while giving your employment history and avoid fake information in your resume.

Edit and proofread your resume to reduce flaws and make the misspelled words correct. It is good to get your resume checked by some professional.

If your work experience is of more than five years, then place your education after experience section. Highlight the degrees that are most relevant to your experience.

Limit the length of your resume up to two pages.

Mail your resume in a 9-by-12 inch labeled envelops rather than folded.

Don’t forget to give your contact information that can hinder your career success.

The Don’ts:

Don’t submit a resume with spelling error, grammatical mistakes and typos. Us MS Word’s spell and grammar check function.

Don’t give information in paragraphs as paragraphs slow down the reading process.

Don’t use fancy and stylish fonts in resume that creates problem in readability.

Don’t add picture in your resume.

Avoid being extra personal in giving your information like your favorite game, favorite book, marital status, age etc.

Dont forget to use the job title in the resume for which you want to offer your skills.

Don’t make too lengthy resume.

Don’t use pronouns like “I”, “a”, “The” etc.

Don’t repeat same information in resume.

Don’t use more details than you need to convey your accomplishments.

Don’t make your resume a list of your job duties but add information about your key accomplishments.

Follow the above mentioned do’s and don’ts of a resume and enhance chances of getting an interview chance.
